If you have the iPad with the cell service chip that chip also includes built-in GPS. Now you don’t need the external GPS device. You don’t need to be connected to cell service for the GPS to function. Another great APP for offroading with an iPad is Motion X GPS HD

Stephen Denlinger says:

Hey there Fairly Honest, appreciate your video on the iPad, Gaia, and GPS receiver. I’m trying to figure out what hardware/software to get for my backcountry adventures where I will be out of cell service most of the time. Question for you… when you are out of cell service range and use the GPS receiver, do you get the same map views on your screen as you do when you were connected to cell service?

itsbobbyagain says:

Do you know if it has a built in altimeter?

Gage 2k5 says:

My iPad does not have a chip. Do I just go to the service provider, in this case Verizon, and get a chip?

I was wondering how the app would work without service now I know thanks.

Warning: Skypro is inaccurate and slow when using windows 10 platform. No offroad apps for windows 10 ether
