Tiny Micro Mechanic Automotive Code Reader test and review.

With 179,000+ miles on our Honda Element, it is no wonder the Engine light is on! I wanted to find out why for sure, as they usually come on due to Smog devices, loose gas caps, or other minor problems. This device will tell me if it is safe to drive without hurting the engine or drive train plus diagnose hundreds of other problems for only $20. Both 02 sensors are saying they are below threshold, which tells me the Catalytic Converter is probably bad. But no Smog Laws here in Iowa, so it I do not have to worry or repair anything. The Micro Mechanic did it’s job, proving nothing major was wrong, but of course the light will come back on eventually.
Thanks for watching!

Whoa! There you go. 20 bucks saved you bookoo in auto mechanics’ (min hourly) costs. :)

Don Kopp says:

My question is…. Does the vehicle have an upstream and down stream O2 censor like my Jeep had? If so, did your reading say give that info?

Rocker Pat says:

Ok dude let me help you out before you waste your time and money here. I just found your channel and was looking at your airplanes and I saw you just posted this video and I have seen these advertised on tv. I also happen to be a real mechanic and I own an auto shop. You can see it on my channel. I just looked up P2000 on my Alldata and I did not find this code. It sounds like maybe you’re not in the USA because the term Nox absorber sounds more European than American. But that aside, your problem is not o2s, but catalytic converter. We would have a p420 Catalytic converter below threshold. I warn everyone that no diagnoses was done and part will be bought and installed without fixing the problem. I have seen I don’t know how many people who have gone to the auto parys store, had their codes read and bought the wrong part and kept buying the wrong part untill after 3 or 4 tries they give up and bring it to me and I find a broken wire or something like that!!! Anyways not trying to bust your chops, just be careful because car parts can be pricey!!! Keep Rocking and Keep flying!!!

I’ve been using an elm327 Bluetooth obd2 adapter for like 8 years now. I have android so I use an App called torque pro that is very in depth. You can even customize pages with gauges to show you whatever you want to monitor as well as set it to log so you can go back and see if something is causing an issue. It has saved my butt so many times I stopped counting. Good video btw

In the fire?
The Santa Rosa fire hit me too bro feels bad man, but great video nonetheless

Rob Sartori says:

I don’t want to knock what you’ve done but you haven’t cured the fault, you’ve just reset the light, it will come back on

Scott Rosengarten says:

Another awesome gadget brought to you by The Nighflyyer!

Wale Akinsefunmi says:

Smh…You gave the impression that the device Miraculously fixed the problem causing the CEL to stay off!!!… You should’ve informed your viewers what the result would be, had you perform that “New scan” and that the Check engine light will always miraculously come back on until the issues are fixed.

RC Hobbyist Extreme says:

Sorry Dave, not with you this time on that thing. Resetting the light doesnt fix the problem and I can bet that light will go back on. Its best to get it in and have things checked. Do some research reguarding why the code was set. It may be a bad 02 sensor or a bad converter. You can test the o2 sensor using a 12vt bulb in a socket and hook one end to ground and the other to the wire, that will test the 02 heater. I think the sensor wire is 5 volts and can also be tested to see if it has proper continuity. If its dead, then you can replace it. You need to know which one it is, that code reader probably wont tell you that. If its not an 02 sensor, then its time to test back pressure. I have done that too. I had an oldsmobile with a bad cat. I just removed it , knocked out the innards, put it back together and no more issues. They dont do tailpipe tests in Mi.

Nice video

Bud Parriott says:

Wow, that’s an amazing device! wish they had one for us old codgers, and it would save us bookoo bucks at the doctor’s office..! Just buy 2 oxygen sensors and pop them in yourself. Kidding aside, that would have been great for your F4 Phantoms, but I’m guessing you had rolling carts with all kinds of electronics inside a big box. And BTW, that’s a good looking vehicle for 179,000 miles, Dave. Oorah, Bud..!

wordreet says:

Ooo! That’s interesting. Lemme check if it’s available in the UK. Mm, no not yet. :¬(
